Whilst enjoying a short city break to Cologne in early December, my friend and her sister set off to see the sights! But there was one sight they didn't quite expect to see and it proved to be one of the highlights of their trip! Leaving the main train station, Hauptbahnhof, and walking up the steps towards the majestic Cologne Cathedral, the Dom, they heard a police siren and stood back with the rest of the crowd to let the emergency vehicle pass. Can you imagine their utter surprise at what they saw next? A fluffy white dog , dressed in police uniform, complete with revolver, handcuffs, police hat and raybans whizzed past riding a 'police bike' with sirens blaring and lights flashing. He looked for all the world as if he was driving it himself. Neither they nor others in the crowd could figure it out! Either he was one very clever dog (and there are plenty of them about!) or someone somewhere was helping him out, using remote control! Although he was moving fairly fast through the crowd, the dog would periodically stop, 'assess' the people around him in an imperious manner and then move on. My friend said that it was a great experience to see the smiles on the faces of all who encountered him that day. He really did bring happiness with him and it was wonderful for them to have had the opportunity to see him. I can somehow feel a city break to Cologne coming on in the near future!! :-)
